BREAKING NEWS: Tea is Good For You
Tea is a delicious drink for morning noon and night. It comes in a million flavors. You already know this. But here’s something of which you might not be aware. Tea is good for you. Green tea is known to have some positive effects. Herbal tea also has been noted to be beneficial to your health. But let us be a bit more specific.
I, the Earl of Grey, have taken a moment of my precious time to remind you that I invented tea, throwing tea leaves into my drink as a result of sudden inspiration. (I don’t care what Master Amanzi says, it was my idea!) So I shall tell you now why I still look so good for my age—tea has many health benefits.
Like what, you ask? I shall be brief, as my time is extremely valuable.
- Tea is good for your teeth. Tea has fluoride in it. You know about fluoride from your silly American toothpaste commercials. It prevents cavities and gum disease, kills bacteria and keeping your mouth healthier.
- Tea helps your body fight disease. Tea contains catechins, which contain antioxidants. These are very healthy, good for slowing down the oxidation process caused by ‘free radicals’ that can damage your cells. This can help your body fight off the negative effects of day to day life, like a poor diet and stress, for example. Some studies indicate that it can also help prevent serious diseases such as cancer and Parkinson’s. It has also been demonstrated to ease the pain of arthritis.
- Tea reduces cholesterol and promotes heart health.
- Tea keeps you hydrated. You need to drink a lot of water to maintain a healthy lifestyle. And tea is mostly water. You see where I’m going with this?
- Tea has vitamins and minerals in it. It contains zinc, folic acid, potassium, manganese, niacin, and vitamins B1, B2 and B6. Which is good for you.
- Tea can cure a headache. It has caffeine and antioxidants; both of these can ease the throbbing pressure of a headache.
- Tea can help with your allergies. Different kinds of tea, such as rooibus and green tea, have been known to reduce rashes and allergic reactions, and can even help you with your sniffles.
There are many more health benefits to tea than I have listed here, and more are being discovered every day. If you wish to know more specifics, use the internet and find out more. But one look at me, and you should know that a long healthy life like mine is definitely something you desire!
And now, I must be off. The Earl of Derby is coming over for a feast tonight and I need to put on my good breeches.
