Green Tea 1, Parkinson’s Nothing

Jasmine here to tell you guys about a little something I read on the web. Turns out there’s this relatively new study that says that green tea can help protect you from Parkinson’s Disease.

Parkinson’s is a progressive, degenerative disorder of the central nervous system caused by the death of cells that produce dopamine, an important neurotransmitter. Parkinson’s sufferers typically experience tremors, muscle rigidity, extreme stiffness, and many other symptoms. Saddest of all, there is still no cure for this horrible disease.

But green tea can help prevent it! Apparently, the polyphenols in green tea, which are extremely high in antioxidants, protect dopamine neurons that increase with the amount consumed. Antioxidants to the rescue again! They are truly amazing!

That’s not all! A study from Singapore published in the American Journal of Epidemiology said that Chinese men and women who drank at least 23 cups of black tea a month were 71% less likely to have Parkinson’s. So black tea works too! Go tea!

They’re still figuring out how to take those antioxidants from tea and put it into a drug for Parkinson’s. But until then, I say, drink more tea! Whether you prefer green or black, the more you drink, the safer you’ll be. It’s healthy AND delicious! You just can’t beat that!
