Keeping those Tea Stains off Your Teeth!

Hey there, tea drinkers. Jasmine here with a new tea tip for you. I know you guys always have a tea bag or two nearby of your favorite loose tea. I’m the same way—I’m sipping a tall iced tea right now, even though it’s late. (Don’t worry, though—it’s organic herbal tea so it won’t keep me up too late.)

I would swear on my last box of  White Monkey Black Tea that you guys have the same problem as me—less than pearly whites! It seems that even if I drink more green than black, it still stains my teeth. In fact, my dentist told me the other day that he can tell I drink a lot of tea because of the tea stains. And while it’s hardly life-threatening, I would really like to have a supermodel’s smile—without giving up on my multiple cups of tea per day.

So here’s some ideas on what to do to avoid letting your dentist know how much tea you drink!

1. Rinse your mouth out with water after every cup of tea you drink. This first idea is just common sense. Just swish some water around and spit it out. This will remove a lot of the excess tea that’s just sitting there on your teeth.

2. Use a straw when you drink tea. This one seems easy too, and obviously it will only work with iced tea. But think about it—if the tea doesn’t touch your teeth, it can’t stain them!

3. Brush your teeth more often—especially after your cup of tea. This takes the whole wishing tea around thing, and ups the stakes. A lot more effective, and will virtually eliminate any trace of tea stains, if done consistently. Also—floss.

4. Use over the counter tooth whiteners. The stuff you can buy at the drug store isn’t the same as getting your teeth professionally whitened at the dentist, but it does work some. Whitening toothpaste can also make a difference.

5. Try Baking soda, lime juice, and other home remedies—but only once in a while. These can be pretty effective, but if overused, these treatments can scrape away the enamel and end up damaging your teeth. Which sort of defeats the whole purpose!

6. See your dentist regularly. Like I said, stained teeth may not look pretty, but they’re not life-threatening. But your dentist can clean them professionally, which is the best way to keep your smile perfect. And I’m not just talking about whiteness!

I hope this helps you guys! Now that I know these little tips tea drinking can go on all day long without fear of losing that super modeling gig I’m always dreaming about! Enjoy your tea and talk to you soon!
