Are You in the Mood?

Hi Loves,

While I wait around for The Great Tea Date to call (and if he doesn’t call soon, he’s lost his chance with me!), I’ve been thinking about what it is that attracts two people together. Is it chemical? Is it physical? Is it chance?

I’m no biochemist or psychologist, but I’ve certainly had my share of hot-blooded and stone-cold moments. If you really like a guy, what can you do to keep the spark alive? I’m also not a witch doctor, so I’m not concocting any love potions in my kitchen. But I have been thinking about the aphrodisiac qualities of herbal tea. Could they really work?

If we think about love and desire as a purely chemical response, then sure, tea that contains herbal aphrodisiacs like Ginger and Lavender should totally work. Drinking them as loose teas shouldn’t be any different. We can’t deny that when you put certain chemicals in the body, it cases a chain reaction.

But I think the laws of attraction are highly influenced by what you think, not just by what you drink. I remember a particularly good dinner date that ended with two cups of smoky Gunpowder Green Tea. Whenever I brew a pot, those good memories come flooding back. Sometimes I think about my last summer fling where we picnicked weekly enjoying homemade Sun Tea. And last Christmas, a particularly thoughtful boyfriend got me a wonderful Tea Pot and Tea Ball Infuser that I use all the time. It’s usually these memories that get me in the mood for love, and to share the things I love (like steamy Oolong Tea!) with those who are special to me.

And that, my friends, is what love’s all about.

OX and Tea,

Tia
