Gifts of Tea and Friendship

Hi Loves,

My friend Suzie stopped by last night with a surprise for me. (Don’t you just love it when that happens?) She’s been reading Tea Talk and she said she just had to come over and dish about my date. And, of course, dish we did.

But her surprise? A new kind of tea that I’d heard a lot about, but had never tried: Yerba Mate! Did you know that Yerba Mate is considered the tea of friendship? Neither did I. Did I mention I’ve got awesome, smart friends?

Here’s what else I learned from Suzie about Yerba Mate:

1. It’s delicious! We drank Organic Loose Gaucho Mint Tea. With it’s bright, refreshing mint taste, it was a little invigorating for right before bed, but after a nice long conversation with Suzie, I felt alert and relaxed all at the same time. What a great feeling.

2. It’s a South American Tea, specifically from Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil.  I have always dreamed about visiting Argentina. My mother lived there as a child and the stories she’s told me make the country sound beautiful and exciting. Now I know I can add tea stops to my list of sights to see.

3. The Health Benefits of Yerba Mate Tea are astounding! Not only is it chock full of antioxidants and gives a nice boost to your immune system (and your brain power!), it can even aid in weight loss. Suzie said, too, that it helps her allergies during hay fever season. I know I’m going to give it a try next time that comes around.

Being the awesome friend that she is, Suzie left me with the rest of the loose leaf tea and I had a cup of it this morning. I’m totally an Yerba Mate convert!

OX and Tea,

Tia
