Green Tea Surprise
Hi Loves,
So the Great Tea Date is tomorrow! I’m really looking forward to going out with him. We’re going to a nice sushi restaurant and a movie, that I picked (yay chivalry!), and I think it’s going to be a very nice time. The last he and I spoke, he told me something really interesting about Green Tea. Did you know there is actually a kind of Green Tea that is fried? No, really!
I was surprised, too. So decided to brush up on my Green Tea knowledge. Here’s what I learned.
Master Amanzi told us a lot about Green Tea a few weeks ago–like how it originally comes from China, but is associated with many Asian cultures and that it’s a very particular tea. You have to brew it just right or it becomes sharp and bitter. Also, it’s extremely good for you. It just might help you fight off heart disease, high cholesterol, indigestion, obesity, and even cancer. Who knew you could get such health benefits from one little tea?
But when Mr. Great Tea Date told me there was a fried Green Tea, I couldn’t believe it. What would be the point of frying something so healthy? I mean, do we eat fried broccoli? (Umm, ok, I might try that.) Anyway, I looked it up, and he’s right. Kamairicha tea is a kind of pan-fried Japanese Green Tea that isn’t steamed like normal teas. How interesting!
So this is what I dug up about Green Tea:
–Green Tea has about a third of the caffeine as coffee
–Green Tea might boost brain power as well
–Green Tea has anti-inflammatory properties and can help people with arthritis
–Green Tea can even be used topically to treat skin damaged by radiation
Even if I don’t have heart disease, high cholesterol, cancer, or arthritis (heaven help me!), I think a healthy dose of Green Tea would totally do a body good. After all this research, not only do I have a better understanding of just how awesome Green Tea is, I think I’ve got plenty of great things to talk to Mr. Great Tea Date about. Wish me luck!
OX and Tea,
Tia
