Milk in Tea: The Debate Rages On

Hey there, Tea People!

Are you having fun reading about tea? The health benefits of tea, the different kinds of loose teas, how long to leave your tea bags in—all that stuff? Those guys seem to know what they’re talking about. I’d listen to them.

I’ve got a little something different for you. Those other stuffed shirts might like to talk about how tea is made, and the difference between white tea and black tea, loose leaf tea vs. tea bags, or whatever. Well, all I care about is how good the tea tastes.

I’m not saying hot tea isn’t already delicious. I like it as much as the next girl, of course. But sometimes, I want a little something extra. So today I’m going to tell you a little bit about something I put into my tea sometimes—milk.

Hey tea lovers!

I don’t know about you, but as I wake up every morning with a hot cup of Irish Breakfast Tea, I like to stroll around on the internet, seeing what’s in the news of the day, what new cute thing some kitty cat did, or if there are any brand spanking new health benefits discovered about my favorite thing the world--tea.

Well, today when I booted up my laptop, I saw something I hadn’t noticed before! Those cute little Apple ads have one talking about tea! Specifically the soothing benefits of tea. It seems that people who have computers need the comfort of a nice cup of tea as much as the rest of us!

Hey guys! I know we tea lovers like to talk about the perfect way to make tea, and how you should always use loose leaf tea, and all that jazz. Obviously, we are bigtime tea drinkers and want it to be perfect. And we want your cup of tea to be perfect too!

But the reality might be that you can’t always use loose leaf tea. That your supermarket doesn’t carry organic tea. That your tea infuser broke. Whatever the reason, sometimes you have to improvise. And we understand!

What’s up, you guys? I’ve got up to the minute tea information for you! The other day, instead of my usual cup of organic oolong tea, I met up with some friends and we had a tea ceremony. We had a special green tea I’d never had before, called matcha tea. It was delicious and super healthy, and I knew you would want to know all about it.

Matcha green tea is a traditional tea from Japan. If you’re ever in Japan and involved in a formal tea ceremony, chances are you’re going to be served matcha. But it’s popular all over the world as well—it may be the most popular green tea on the market today.

How to Read Tea Leaves

Hey you guys! As you know, I love tea. I love the smell of tea, the look of tea, and of course, I love the taste. Iced tea in the summer, hot tea in the winter, I’m never without a nice cup of tea, and a steaming teapot somewhere nearby. I’m a tea freak or something!

But hang on there—did you catch that I said I like the “look” of tea? Did you wonder that that meant? You should! Of course, I love the way tea leaves look before you throw them in the pot. They’re so…natural and crispy, and you can almost literally see how good they are for you! But I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about how much I love looking at them AFTER you’ve made your tea. In fact, I have started checking into telling fortunes based on looking at tea leaves. Cool, huh?

Drinking loose leaf tea has many health benefits. You can look all over the internet to see all the ways tea is good for you. But here’s one you haven’t heard about yet—tea lowers your cholesterol and reduces the risk of heart disease!

I was just sitting here on the quad of Tea U., enjoying a big thermos of organic loose tea (Sweet Summer Melon! Mmmmm!), and I stumbled across these. They’re so funny, and totally talk about the health benefits of tea. So cool! Check them out!

Here’s one tea movie:

This one’s great too!

Aren’t those awesome? Tea is so fun! I just love them.  Oh well, back to work!

Adding Extra Flavor to Your Tea

Recently I told you guys about the ins and outs of adding milk to your tea. But as everybody knows, there’s a lot more options than that! For many years, tea makers have added fruit and herbs to their tea blends. But sometimes, you want to add a little something yourself. Well I’ve got a couple of tea tips to help you out.

Naturally, there’s no limit to what you can put into a cup of tea. Cinnamon, mint, blueberries, strawberries…you name it—the possibilities are endless.  So I’m just going to stick with the most common ones for today.

Hey Tea Lovers! Jasmine here, coming to you from the hallowed halls of my alma mater, good old Tea U.

I was noticing today that all the fast food joints on the quad seem to sell a LOT of soda. So as I sit here sipping from my thermos of iced tea (Apple Mango herbal tea, to be exact—mmm!), I thought I might take a moment to point out that tea isn’t just for incredibly old fogies like the Earl of Grey or Master Amanzi. With all the health benefits of tea coming out these days, and increase in availability of different tea options, tea is becoming more popular than ever!

I thought you should know that  young people don’t all want to drink hot tub-sized cups of super sweet, overly caffeinated soda. It’s just not good for you. And those that do, well, they’re probably already hopped up on sugar to be rational. So I wanted to tell you a little bit about what to look for when you get tea for your kids.
