Hullo, tea readers;

Oh how you have missed me, no doubt. I pity you all. stirring your big cups of tea, scanning this tea blog in the hopes of seeing my cartooned face smiling back at you with a bit of good information about the best type of tea. How disappointed you must have been!

I’m afraid I have been a bit busy this past month with some sort of labour dispute among my serfs. Nothing I can’t handle–or rather, that my men can’t handle. (I try not to dirty my hands with even knowing the details of such distasteful matters). But it has resulted me in having to hole up in my fortified tower here in there with just a few barrels of my favorite loose leaf teas and couple of thick volumes of my life story.

But now that you’re boringly American holiday has passed, like my little uprising, we can focus on my favorite holiday — Christmas.

Dear sweet Tea Apostles;

I do so appreciate your attention and care as you study the many aspects of the Way of Tea. I know that in my constant instruction and general testiness when it seems you don’t know why rooibos tea is called red tea, and other basic facts that you should certainly know by now, I sometimes forget to tell you that I am proud of you. My heart sometimes swells up like a used teabag at the thought of how much you continue to grow.

Forgive me if I am overly sentimental. I seem to be out of my morning black tea today, and I am missing it a bit, feeling a bit emotional.  I do so love black tea, you know. I love its brisk flavor, so rich and strong. I love every kind of black tea, from the flowery and fruity teas like Crimson Rose and Passion Fruit, to the spicy and nutty taste of the Masala Chai and Cinnamon Spice.

How much do you know about Black Tea?

Tea Perfection

Hi Loves,

Ahhhh, My Morning Cup of Tea

I just had a great conversation with Mr. GTD over IM (Hey, I’m a 21st Century kind of girl.) about tea. I know, you’re all so surprised.

But over the course of the conversation (which took place when I should have been doing work, but oh well), he said the perfect cup of tea was small cup of perfectly brewed green tea, savored while meditating. With all the health benefits of green tea and how much better he felt after a few minutes of meditating over the steaming cup it was like a mental makeover, he said.

Sure, that sounds nice, I said, but far from perfect to me. The perfect cup of tea, in my mind, is a strong cup of black hot tea, like classic Earl Grey, with a spoon full of honey. With a little boost of caffeine to get me going and a bunch of antioxidants to keep me going, that, I said, was a cup of perfection. Read full entry! »

Greetings Students of the Way of the Tea.

Forgive me if I am slower today as I impart wisdom unto you. The path to the Perfect Pot sometimes winds in directions one does not expect.

Last night, we graduated a new class of Tea Masters. And after the big Tea Ceremony, there was a bit of celebration. And as a result, this morning, old Master Amanzi isn’t feeling that “tea makes you feel young forever” feeling I’ve taught you so much about. Not to worry however, for I shall incorporate it into today’s lesson. How tea can help with a hangover.

Greetings, Tea Students.

Put down your steaming cups of tea for one second and pay attention. The information I am about to impart unto you goes beyond telling you what a tea infuser is, or how green tea helps fight cancer. I don’t want you to spit your Lung Ching across the room in shock.

Are you ready?

A (Tea) Ceremonial Date

Hi Loves,

So, I know you all are just bursting at the seams waiting to hear about my date this weekend. Don’t worry, Tia’s here to tell you all the juicy details. I’ll give you a hint: Tea Ceremony!

So, we first went to a very nice Japanese restaurant not far from both our houses. We were seated in a private tatami room, separated from the next table by beautiful rice paper screens. Our wonderful server, dressed in full regalia, kimono and all, told us that the calligraphy on the screens was the work of the proprietor himself. Score points for Mr. Great Tea Date, who picked the restaurant. Read full entry! »

Hi Loves,

You know what time it is? It’s time for a tea party!

Every year about this time, I realize that I haven’t seen some of my friends in weeks and weeks. Why? Because the beginning of Fall seems to be one of the busiest times of the year! It’s like we all forgot how to work and be productive after a summer of sipping iced tea and it’s all catching up with us. So I like to plan an fun tea party for me and my friends so we can catch up on who’s dating who, who’s NOT dating who, and what’s on the romantic horizon. Oh, and we’ll probably talk about work, too, but only after we’ve covered the more important stuff.

So, this year, I’m really going to make it special.

Teato has many loves. Sunsets. Beautiful Women. Tea. And when it comes time to give someone a present, Teato gives them…tea. What else? It is the embodiment of beauty, in tiny little leaves.

But if you want to bestow the gift of tea on someone special, you must know their heart. Here are a few suggestions on what kind of tea to give those close to you:

Choosing Tea for a Friend

If you are just beginning on your friendship journey, go with a sampler — something with a variety of tea. That way they can find the path to loving tea, and you, themselves. Whether that path is through black tea, green tea, or herbal tea, they can be their own guide.

The Matcha Game

What’s up, you guys? I’ve got up to the minute tea information for you! The other day, instead of my usual cup of organic oolong tea, I met up with some friends and we had a tea ceremony. We had a special green tea I’d never had before, called matcha tea. It was delicious and super healthy, and I knew you would want to know all about it.

Matcha green tea is a traditional tea from Japan. If you’re ever in Japan and involved in a formal tea ceremony, chances are you’re going to be served matcha. But it’s popular all over the world as well—it may be the most popular green tea on the market today.
