It is no secret that a good cup of tea is one of my favorite things. They didn’t name Earl Grey Tea after me for nothing, after all. (It wasn’t a catchy name when I first told them what to call it, BTW, and a bit of resistance had to be stamped out quickly and some say viciously.)
But as much as I enjoy a good strong black tea (though I like green tea and white teas as well, and don’t let anyone tell you differently), I do also enjoy a bit of the nectar of the gods, the fruit of the vine. And in that frame of mind, I shall tell you a bit about how tea is like wine. Read full entry! »
Well, let’s hope at least. I think I’m getting a cold. And you know the first thing I reach for as I snuggle under my favorite quilt to rest is a cup of nice hot tea–preferably my favorite, immune system boosting herbal teas and black teas.
Black tea and herbal teas work in their own special ways to help keep you healthy. Black teas contain a substance called L-theanine that helps your body attack bacteria and germs that can cause sickness. And herbal teas are well known to have many, many health benefits, including natural immune system boosting antioxidants. Read full entry! »
Guess what!? Today is my birthday! Thanks for the happy birthday wishes. I’m proud to say I’m officially (shushsmum) years old. What? A lady never tells. Of course, my family and friends have come through like champs and showered me with love and gifts. And of course that includes tea!
Now I have a problem, though. Which to drink first? My wonderful friend Suzie gives the best tea gifts, as you’ve already read, and she presented me with a fine box of herbal chamomile loose tea. You can never go wrong with the classics. And my lovely mother sent me a selection of black tea bags, because she knows sometimes I need my tea on the go. But where to start?
How do I love tea? Let me count the ways. All this talk of love and tea has made me think about my heart. Not just my current crush or long-term romantic goals, but the old ticker beating away in my chest. And you know what? The natural health benefits of tea can be good for your heart!
I don’t know about you, but as I wake up every morning with a hot cup ofIrish Breakfast Tea, I like to stroll around on the internet, seeing what’s in the news of the day, what new cute thing some kitty cat did, or if there are any brand spanking new health benefits discovered about my favorite thing the world--tea.
Well, today when I booted up my laptop, I saw something I hadn’t noticed before! Those cute little Apple ads have one talking about tea! Specifically the soothing benefits of tea. It seems that people who have computers need the comfort of a nice cup of tea as much as the rest of us!
Oh man, I’ve got it bad. And there’s only one thing that can cure my aching crush. My favorite tea ritual.
So, you remember how Mr. Great Tea Date didn’t call for so long? And then he did? And now we’re going out this weekend, on Saturday? Well, now you’re caught up. All this week we’ve been emailing and texting and talking on the phone (and some how getting work done, too) and as a result, I’ve totally got a major crush on him.
When this happens, my brain goes haywire. All I can do is ask a million questions. What’s going to happen? Does he like me back? Are we soul mates? What should I wear?
But I have to play it cool. And the best way I know how to relax, is to brew a pot of tea. Here’s what I do.
I, Earl of Grey, have taken a few moments out of my precious schedule to allow you to bask in my presence. My hot tea was too hot, and I have a moment or two before Henry pulls out the loose leaves and hands it to me. So I thought I would tell you a little bit about…yourselves.
You’ve no doubt thought as you shopped for your favorite flavored tea—“Why do I enjoy flavored tea so much?”
I have wondered that very thought. “Why do Americans prefer flavored tea?” And I think I have the solution. Heed my wisdom, for I shan’t repeat it.
Teato has many loves. Sunsets. Beautiful Women. Tea. And when it comes time to give someone a present, Teato gives them…tea. What else? It is the embodiment of beauty, in tiny little leaves.
But if you want to bestow the gift of tea on someone special, you must know their heart. Here are a few suggestions on what kind of tea to give those close to you:
Choosing Tea for a Friend
If you are just beginning on your friendship journey, go with a sampler — something with a variety of tea. That way they can find the path to loving tea, and you, themselves. Whether that path is through black tea, green tea, or herbal tea, they can be their own guide.
There seems to be a lot of confusion out there about the amount of caffeine in a cup of tea, and what that means. When you drop your tea bag into your cup of tea, you want to know just how much caffeine you’re getting. The short answer is that it varies—depending on whether you’re using a tea bag or loose leaf tea, how long you steep it for, etc. But fear not—Master Amanzi shall tell you more.
