It seems everyone is always talking about coffee. In the movies, everyone is carrying a brown paper cup, jokes are made about how they take coffee; on television boys ask girls out for “a drink or a cup of coffee.” It’s as if tea doesn’t even exist! well, I am here to tell you that it does! Well, I’d say you’ve done it now. This morning with my morning tea, (I’m sure you don’t have to wonder what kind of tea it as at this point…and if you do, well shame shame!), I notice that you’ve gone and elected (the word is such a strange one to me!) yourself a new President. Good for you.

i also noticed that it’s the one people were calling “elitist” because he drank a fancy tea. Which if faithful readers of this tea blog will know, I protested this label vigorously. Or at least as vigorously as I protest anything without starting a war. So I’m glad you decided not to discount the man based on his eating and drinking preferences.

As I sit here drinking my herbal tea, and two dukes vie for my attention on their land dispute, I am thinking about your upcoming election.

Just a few days ago, your John McCain’s man said this in a memo:

Only celebrities like Barack Obama go to the gym three times a day, demand ‘MET-RX chocolate roasted-peanut protein bars and bottles of a hard-to-find organic brew — Black Forest Berry Honest Tea’ and worry about the price of arugula…

I put it to you. Tea is the most popular beverage in the world. Millions upon millions of people consume tea in some form or another: iced tea, hot tea, herbal tea, oolong tea, tea bags or loose leaf tea, sweet tea or unsweetened—there are millions of ways to drink tea for millions of tea drinkers. Are they all elitists?
